Riki Schumacher - Romantic Crocheted Metal Cuff
Date 1/22/2017
Time 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location 2196 Lincoln Ave.
City San Jose
Description Did you know you could crochet with wire and make gorgeous jewelry? In this really fun workshop, you will learn to crochet with fine wire and make a stunning bracelet, giving it a “lace” look. Then add handmade end caps. It is so much fun.

Riki’s luscious Crocheted Cuffs were published in Stampington’s Armoire magazine a few years ago. This will be the first time she has taught this workshop anywhere! These amazing cuffs have a lovely mesh look and feel to them, lightweight and comfortable to wear. She will show you how to use brilliant sterling silver wire to make a cuff custom fit to your wrist. You can choose to embellish it with crystals and pearls giving your bracelet a bit more sparkle. Maybe attach some vintage stampings, or add an antique something? There is no limit to what you can embellish these little works of art with.

First crochet the shape, and then fit custom end caps you make from sheet metal. They will be designed from scratch, textured, and give the cuff a sturdy, and gorgeous finishing touch. There will be a bit of cutting and filing of metal, a touch of drilling and bending. Your kits will include almost everything you need; a crochet needle, sterling wire, brass sheet metal, chain, and clasp. This is a perfect class for all levels.

Please bring: a pair of flush jewelry cutters, round nose pliers (large and small if you have them, a wooden chop stick, a medium size fine metal file, small scissors, fine tip permanent pen, ruler, a plastic mallet and small steel block (I will have extras), and magnifiers are REALLY helpful for this project.

Optional items are an apron, about 15 each of faux pearls and crystals (with a hole big enough for 28ga wire), stampings, antique buttons, etc. If you bring something to attach like a stamping, we need to be able to drill it! We will attach metal stampings first, then a glass button could be wired on top if you bring one of those.

Riki will bring a few items available for purchase to wire on from her stash.
