Bio: Recently I saw a challenge to write a 6 word bio, and the first thing that came
to me was “Farmgirl travels bravely; errs, learns and loves”.
To expound a bit, I was
raised in the East Bay on a walnut/pear ranch. I started crafting in 4H and became a
good seamstress, and also enjoyed needle point, macramé and jewelry making. I have
traveled extensively, including a 6 month stay in South East Asia during high school,
which definitely has influenced my style.
I now live in San Jose with my husband and 3 boys. I got into stamping about
12 years ago through scrapbooking. I find that scrapbooking is all about keeping and
holding on, so card making, which is all about giving and letting go, provides a nice
balance. I love being able to make a quick, unique card when ever I want to for a
birthday, thank you, or any occasion. I also adore stamping magazines, and in the last
few years I enjoy submitting my cards to their calls for “challenges”. Not only has
this resulted in my cards getting published numerous times, but it has also helped me to
gain more confidence in myself as an artist.
My favorite thing to teach is new stamping techniques. It is so much fun to see
the joy in student’s faces when they create something beautiful!! Stamping is such a
versatile craft; it always amazes me how many different ways you can use one stamp.
Stamping also has the rare combination of being artistic and practical/useful at the
same time.
I hope that you will come to one of my classes soon and discover why I am
so enthusiastic about rubber stamping!
