We ship orders within 2 business days from the time the order was placed.

Returns & Exchanges

For online purchases, store credit will be given on consumer generated returns within 30 days of purchase when you return the product in its original condition. Customer is responsible for returning shipping fees.

Should your purchase arrive damaged please provide photographic evidence of the damage in its original shipping container and we will replace the products damaged.

No returns or refunds on digital products.

Cancellation Policy

For classes taking place on Zoom there are no refunds given. All classes are recorded and the registered students are given access to the recording after the live session has concluded.


The following applies only to live (in person) events in our studio that are not recorded and presented on Zoom.


For our in-house instructors (not visiting instructors) we require a 48 hour cancellation on pre-paid classes. We offer a 90% refund at that point OR a transfer into another session of the class you are missing provided there are other students attending that class. (No private makeup sessions.) No refund is given on the processing fee.

When you find it necessary to cancel at the last minute (within the 48 hour window) there is no refund available. We understand sometimes the unavoidable happens and do our best to be gracious and accomodating. There are no guarantees.  Please call and let us know you will not be attending.  Sometimes your cancellation will affect the overall class viability.

If you simply don't show up for class there are no refunds or makeups available.

When using a Groupon to register for class we have a strict 48 hour cancellation policy.  No transfers or cancellations within 48 hours of class.  Your Groupon voucher will be marked as "redeemed" and can not be used for another session.


Following is the general policy for cancellations and potential refunds for students who cannot attend classes with visiting instructors for which they registered.

For very popular classes, there may be different cancellation policies which will be prominently displayed on the Workshop Description.

Your workshop space is reserved with full registration or, when available on a class by class basis, down payment. We cannot verbally "hold" spots. 

Because some instructors are traveling to teach, and a minimum number of students is needed to make their time worthwhile, please understand that in some cases refunds will not be available. In those cases, you are always welcome to sell your class spot to someone else.

In the event a workshop does not reach minimum enrollment and is cancelled, all payments will be refunded in full, and you will be notified by email and/or phone call if a class is cancelled by the shop.

Refunds for classes a participant cannot attend must be requested via email. Refunds will be given (minus 10% of the class total fee and processing fee) for cancellations received no later 14 days before the start of the workshop unless your cancellation jeopardizes the minimum needed to host the workshop.

If your cancellation jeopardizes the minimum number needed to hold the workshop, there will be neither refunds nor class credit. The minimum number to hold a workshop is always prominently advertised in the Workshop Description.

Workshops may be paid for in person at the store, via the website, or by check mailed to: A Work of Heart, 176 Race St, San Jose, CA 95126. If mailing by check, be clear which workshop you desire to take.

Workshops are designed for those registered only. We ask that you respect the adult education environment and refrain from bringing children or non-registered guests to workshops.


The $65 reservation fee for booking a party is non-refundable but transferrable to another party date (one time only)
Gift Certificates

Gift Certificates do not expire unless they have an expiration date listed (donations for fundraising purposes.) You may use the value of a gift certificate toward classes or product unless a specific class is listed.

There are no refunds for gift certificates.

We reserve the right to refuse service.

Class & Workshops Policy

If you are registering for class with a gift certificate or voucher (Groupon/Amazon Local)you must give the certificate number (bar code) to reserve your spot. If you are a no-show to class (no call to cancel 48 hours in advance) your certificate will be void.

Daytime classes (before 5:30pm) may be suitable for youth (ages 8-12) but please check first as some involve fire and chemicals unsuitable for young guests. Evening classes (after 5:30pm)are reserved for adults (age 13+)

Please be respectful of our other patrons and make other arrangements for your children.

Anyone sitting in class is required to pay for class or studio time. At this time we do not have a "waiting area" available.
